Blue Dot: A 3Lateral Showcase of MetaHuman Animator

Introducing Blue Dot, a short film created by Epic Games' 3Lateral team in collaboration with local Serbian artists, including renowned actor Radivoje Bukvić, who delivers a monologue based on a poem by Mika Antic. The performance was filmed at Take One studio's mocap stage with cinematographer Ivan Šijak acting as director of photography.

These nuanced results demonstrate the level of fidelity that artists and filmmakers can expect when using MetaHuman Animator with a stereo head-mounted camera system and traditional filmmaking techniques.

What’s more, the team was able to achieve this impressive level of animation quality with minimal interventions on top of MetaHuman Animator results.

The Thylacine, a once-extinct mammal believed to be gone forever, finds its place on that jacket's brand name( closeup shot) There's a company trying to bring it back to life with slogan, “path to the de-extinction”. It could be a clever nod from 3lateral, symbolizing their mission to transfer people into virtual realms, giving them a chance at digital existence beyond death. By the way, I'm super stoked to try out the Metahuman animator. Congrats to the entire team 🎉🔥

The first time I saw a CG realistic human being with zero “uncanny valley”. All the micro expressions are there. Only the final shot with direct light kinda gives it away. But still absolutely phenomenal!

Professional 3d guy here.... just wanna say first minute I was trying to figure out if I am looking at a real person or a 3d character even though was obvious from the context it's 3d. Well done we are there. Films can be done with digital doubles. You amazing crazy bastards you did it!!!! Well done everyone involved.
I must say I had tears in my eyes it touched me on a deep emotional level.
