24% of the people we see at University Gastroenterology are suffering from an eating disorder. It's important to be aware of the symptoms so we can help patients get the help they need. You are not in the struggle alone. We can help create a compassionate, holistic, and multi-disciplinary plan to help you recover.

Thank you for acknowledging that not all of us are underweight. I'm 60 and dealt with forced restriction as a child, and later restricting on my own, with laxative and diuretic abuse (that stopped in the mid-90s). I've got a laundry list of chronic medical issues that are directly or indirectly a result of all of that. For 2 yrs, I have had an NG for fluids (CKD fluid requirements and not having stomach volume to eat and drink easily; I was a RN for 35 yrs, and put my own tubes in) - not ONE of my MDs (who have all heard why the tube is there) has said anything else about it, other than a one-time-"wonder" who flicked her hand at me, without making eye contact, and said "don't do that not eating thing anymore", as she walked out of the room. I got a new primary care MD immediately.
