For context…the reason why the Knicks would consider Marcus Smart is because by adding Josh Hart to the starting lineup, the Knicks would want to add a Josh Hart-type player to their bench unit so they’re not losing much in that respect. They can either do that or trade for a 2/3 starting-level type player (I.e. Trey Murphy III), and move Josh Hart back to the bench.
