Insta360 X4 | 8K VR Video Footage

Check out this 8K interactive 360 VR video shot with the Insta360 X4 in a range of locations in the City of London.

While most people use their 360 cameras for reframing another popular use is creating interactive VR videos.

The X4 is the first consumer 360 camera to be able to shoot 8K 360 video and YouTube has recently upgraded their VR app to play 8K. This could mean a huge boost in high quality VR footage.

I just watched this on my Quest 3 and although it is not perfect of course, it has the feel of "as good as it gets", unless the budget is unlimited. I think this format of video is the strongest selling point of the X4 for those who have a VR headset to go with it. So good for special occasions where it enables time travel back to the day. But I do wish that the Q3 joysticks would support rotation of the image when I am comfy on the sofa!

People saying that the vid is poor or blurry probably don’t know how to change the quality here on youtube. I have a go pro max and the difference is huge. I’m going to order in the next couple of minutes the x4.

First 360 video from the X4 I've seen that looks this sharp in a variety of scenes.. Nice! Others have looked a bit soft.

My problem is a vision. I cannot think of the immersive ideas you all come up with. Great to watch though. I have the 360x3 but just play around with it.

This looks A LOT better than the footage from my X3 (also other videos I found online) with a meta quest 3 VR headset. The X3 has a lot of compression artifacts and details are blurry. But this video has a lot of tiny details.
Almost a reason to upgrade from X3 to X4.

This is really nice. Looks great on a large screen setting YouTube quality to 8K. The best my iPhone 14 can do is 1440s, which doesn't do it justice.

saw on quest 3 and really amazing, much better than in 4k, now I know that 16k would be perfect, sad that we would need quest 4 for watch.

The quality you are getting in your videos is WAY better than what I'm getting from my Insta360 x4. I'm shooting 8k / 30fps and I'm exporting from Insta360 Studio at the maximum bitrate and in H265. Are those the settings you use? Thanks in advance!

Nice great video! thanks for making it and for the great news of YT VR do you know if that upgrade is only for the Quest 3 or also the Quest 2?. by the way, I recently purchased an X4 haven't opened yet 🤭 But now i can see how it looks on my computer I was able to watch up to 2160s 4K on IMac 5K resolution.and it looks great!
