I find it very suspect that none of the major influencers are comparing the X4 to the 1-inch. I do not think Insta360 wants that comparison to happen. This camera seems to be marketed using the 8K resolution it has and not the fact that it's the exact same sensor in the X3. I bought the X4 and have the 1-inch and I can say without a doubt that I am keeping my 1-inch and returning the X4. The 1-inch is so much better. If any of you are semi knowledgable about cameras, you know the most import aspect of a camera is its image sensor capability. Light gathering is everything. I will wait for the 8k 1-inch to come out. That will add even more detail to the 1-inch and trust me, it's not missing a ton. The X4 is only necessary if you need a waterproof camera without using additional accessories or want something a bit lighter, but if you own the 1-inch, I say save your money.

Totally agree, Chap. As a sports lover myself I can't really see myself using a traditional action camera with a fixed POV anymore. Having the flexibility of 360 footage is just so liberating in post... Also now that 8K is here, I'm really convinced to finally only bring ONE camera to all of my trips. Great stuff! And I'm really glad they finally brought us 60 FPS at a reasonable quality. Can't wait to see the slow mo shots.

If the battery drains faster, they should have came up with a communication port in the selfie stick that holds an additional battery. This way it could charge while recording.

What a great review! Motion ND looks interesting. Like your choice of transport. Fiat 500 (affectionately known as the fart box) used to be my daily driver about 40 years ago. Video quality looks substantially improved.

They removed the Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) feature.
It was in the X3, but not X4. It was my most used feature. I wasted my money upgrading.

Well I'll be damned. This new chip seems to get quite a bit more detailed over my old X2, X3 wasn't a big enough upgrade for me. Also the missing 60 fps on 5.7 kept me away from an upgrade so far, I kinda need a bit of cinematic slowmo :D also the low light scenes in the reviews I saw so far looked decent (for an action cam). Amazing review, I'm gonna get one... just need to convince the wife first :P

So many questions. How do you edit video? Can you save it on your pc and watch the 360 video there too and move around with the cursor? Can you watch the video with a VR headset and move your head around in a 360° bubble?

If scuba diving is your thing don’t buy the X4.
The X4 has a dive case preset which has 8K video. Today I wanted to try my new dive case during a snorkel. I was surprised that it stopped because of ‘over heating’. Or so it notified. Very frustrating for sure. I suspect this overheating problem will be ironed out in the X5.
