I tried to keep it as spoiler-free as possible by not showing all of the new house designs, the best places to visit or any deep looks into the brand-new POIs, this way, you can still get the "wow" moments yourself.

I’m so stoked about this map mainly just the snow in general at such a cool atmosphere. I hope they get the audio correct for walking the snow with the crunching and stuff

I can't wait. Playing console this is a must buy. We don't get a new map that often. I'm looking forward to this.

To me the map of Sakhal is a game changer...for...you know...a game. Seriously, I am very excited about Sakhal. Especially as a console player, it represents a new map that focuses on the survival aspects of...you know....a survival game. But, seriously folks. I welcome it not only because it really forces players to focus more on surviving and not just KOS and PVP. Because of the harsh environment, you have to work at staying warm and fed. Which means if you decide to camp a location, you will have to build more fires to stay. Which also means you become more visible to players around you. This to me makes the decision to engage in PVP more selective. In the end, DayZ becomes even more of a post apocalyptic game because of this intensified focus on survival. I expect to die a lot when I first start playing on Sakhal. And even though I don''t want to die if I'm geared, I still see death as the beginning of a new adventure. So, bring it on. Sakhal for the win!

P.S. Oh, and the price is perfectly fine with me. It costs money to develop a game. And it's a lot less than the $70 for Call of Duty. Which I stopped playing a couple versions ago, anyway.

I just picked this up. Always been a DayZer. Been playing for years, they deserve support.

My advice for new players is try to run with an experienced player. Some of us are happy to train you up. But be careful because some will just kill you because of trust issues or blood lust.

When I started my studies from the very first day of school I had to ski 20 kilometres in each direction with unplaned carved planks on my feet uphill in both directions. There was no one to accompany me as my parents worked in the fields during the week and spent evenings and weekends at war. I had to navigate to the school by the smell of fresh paint and the route to the school was through a thick forest in pitch darkness with a temperature of 49 degrees below zero and snow up to our necks even in summer.

This game reminds me of my childhood, seems pretty nice ngl, ill buy 3.

Nice review. My only gripe with this map is, that unique places like beached Submarine, big radar Dome and Geothermal plant are not accessible. I was so eager to explore those and expecting them to have good gear too. Maybe, just maybe, devs will open them later?
EDIT: And also those remote island should have interesting structures too. Some with good military equipment spawning.

I really had my doubts but your explanation was better than some of the others I've seen.

Appreciate that you talked about the game mechanics more than the other stuff. Seems that's been the focus for many people.

Always loved Namalsk as my favorite map, partially cause of the difficulty and snow, partially because of how much better it is for seeing long distance (can easily see 1200-1400m and hit shots compared to much lower view distances on Chernarus) so I'm really looking forward to this new official map and hopefully the view distance is just as good if not better

I just upgraded to a PS5 but I lost my PlayStation account because I forgot my email password so I have to buy DayZ all over again but I'm definitely excited for this new map. Thank you for this video bro

Rather its worth it or not is something everyone should learn for themselves. It is worth it to me personally, its a new OFFICIAL map and introduces so many new things into the Vanilla game. I've seen people compare it to maps like Namalsk because the two are very similar. Also tbh, I've been watching streamers play on Sakhal and I doubt it will have any more pvp than any other DayZ map once the "wow something new" factor dies down.

Canadian army vet here. I have some concerns.
One of the reasons I got the original DayZ was because I missed the field, and having also travelled to the occasional eastern Europe and ex-soviet countries (eg former Yugoslavia), the aesthetics remind me of some of the places I've seen.
Now, when the video mentioned snow as an option for hydration, there was nothing I heard about the actually effects in a survival situation, dropping your core body temperature. That's right, you should not use snow for hydration ina survival situation as it will cause you to burn more energy just bringing the water up to body temperature. Sure, add an "acid rain" to the mechanic, but we are not in the realism space.

If we wanted to up the realism, unpacked clear snow will take forever to walk through, which is why you send someone to "break the ground" if moving as a team. But I didn't see any speed changes. Imagine the surprise in a firefight if you suddenly can't run and you have snow halfway up to your thigh. (You don't run really if it is up to your knee, you attempt to bound. Think knees touching your hands at hip level kind of exercise/work)
So I'm also guessing they don't have snow as something you can easily shoot through, because you can in real life. Set up a snow creet and freeze over with water, and you might have a defensive position. But back to survival.
What you don't realize, is that you sweat when doing work in the cold. You feel like you have no issues until the sweat starts to dry, and then the moisture wick away your body heat. On top of that, your clothing gets clogged with sweat, so there are less air pockets that help you stay warm. This is why you use layers, open your clothing when exerting yourself and desperately try to avoid sweating.
Also, they type of cold (warmer and damp verses dry and wickedly cold) dictates how bad things can get (wet steals your heat. Dry, if insulated from the wind, can feel easier (though your nostril closing because of the moisture in your head at minus 35 Celsius is just life in Edmonton Alberta sometime).

I guess, I would love to like Frostline, but it sounds like it will be initially the "idea" someone has of fighting and surviving in the cold, not the reality. Hopefully stuff like this hit's the devs ears, and the unique mil-sim zombie survival game Dayz is, shows us all that survival is not as simple as you thought it was.

(P.S. Someone put a tired mechanic in DayZ, where you need a 3 minute cat nap. It's surprising the number of times I've comfortably fallen asleep in the snow because of a long day. But only add this mechanic if you include hypothermia. When the shivering stops, you are in a BAD place (comes with confusion and disorientation)

My $0.02

Definitely worth the buy! Huge difference from chenarus and awesome new added things! Anyone asking for a discount is a garbage human being. Grateful for the devs to keep this going! For all those who complain go outside and run into oncoming traffic
