I'm not really sure how people still believe that socialism is a planned/command economy. I would think by this point people would correct making that mistake, especially when information is so easily available with the technology we are currently using. I suppose I'd have to blame webster for making the definition of socialism have two conflicting definitions lol

The problem with the "advantage" list

1) Less gap between poor and rich: why does this matter? Everyone is worse off.
2) When has socialism *ever* assured a supply for important goods? It never has. Quite the contrary - see the Mayflower Compact and its results for a perfect example.
3 &4) Again, socialized medicine is neither "free" nor improves access. In fact, Americans hav much greater access particularly for diagnostic treatments and equipment. And socialized medicine is rife with rationing of care and outright care denial.
5) Socialism has literally *never* been more efficient. And no such "guarantee: has ever existed.

Missing from the disadvantages:

1) Lower overall standard of living
2) Significantly reduced economic choice
3 &4) It should be mentioned that lower quality and reduced innovation applies to healthcare as well

In socialism SOCIETY, not the sate owns means of production.

If you think that society is the same as the state, by this logic, even most totalitarian regime is democratic and controlled by all citizens.
