Your style is exactly where the Minecraft YouTube scene needs to go toward. No blaring music, no hyperactive yelling, just calm instructions and clear explanation.

This was THE most useful, clear and concise diamond mining guide on youtube. I've watched a lot. No BS, no preamble just "this is where and how". Very nice, you've got a sub.

"Decreased Air Exposure" is such a weird rule to have from a gameplay perspective. It encourages strip mining rather than exploring caves (which is more fun/dangerous).

I use to mine at level 12 pre-caves and cliffs. Now I mine at -57. I find so many diamonds, probably more than I would before at level 12. Caves and cliffs is miner friendly. People who love to just explore the underworld and mine walls, or just strip mining, this new world expansion is just the best

This guy always comes in clutch with the exact thing I’m thinking about in Minecraft. You’ve earned yourself a sub good sir 👌

Personally, I've worked out a bit of theory regarding multi-layered strip mining and it can completely eliminate any chance of passing by any diamonds while also being mathematically more efficient in exposing the most number of blocks in the least amount of area and time when compared to single layered strip mining.
You almost mentioned it at 2:56, but the optimal way to do so would be to mine at -57, then for the layer above, mine at -54, but on a column adjacent to your lower layer's strip mine. Doing
so eliminates the overlap in exposed blocks between the lower and upper layer, and allows the two layers to cover some of the missed blocks at the corners of each layer. You can shift this
to -58 and -55 or even extend it to a third layer at -52 if you so desire, and it would still be more efficient than simple strip mining, so it'd mostly be up to your luck with lava and how much you value mining new chunks instead of clearing out your individual chunks more thoroughly. I usually like sticking to just two layers for this reason.

That being said, I don't expect such a detailed and mathematically theory crafted guide here, so just seeing the ore generation and the basic method behind strip mining is more than good enough for a video like this.

Just go down to level -58 and mine out in all directions. If you wanna run into caves while still finding diamond frequently go for -45 to -36.

Did not know about the fossil method. If you go villagers for equipment then fossil mining is perfect because realistically all you need is a handful of diamonds for an enchanting table or two and maybe a jukebox.

Once I started mining at Y -58, the amount of diamonds I was finding was ridiculous!
This was really helpful, thank you!

Thanks for reminding me about the diamond fossils, I completely forgot about those since the first snapshot that had them, also I had no idea the air exposure thing does not apply to caves with water, so that's also a big ty.
I personally really recommend going at -58/-59 and just going forward, mining 3 blocks high tunnel and mine tunnels as far as you can mine without moving from the center in both directions every 2 blocks. Worked for me perfectly enough to get some diamonds, also I would recommend leaving any ore you find until you get a diamond pickaxe with Fortune III since it can sometimes increase your diamond count to what feels like 2.5x the amount of ores.

Been subbed since you had like 14k subs (last month lol). This was an awesome video. Keep it up! Your videos are bringing clear guides to 1.18, something seriously needed!

This is such a well put together and helpful video!! Seriously, awesome job. Straight to the point and easy to follow. And the strip mining has worked wonders for me!! Unlike others, I HATE the cave update lol. They are super cool and all, and I love lush caves so much, but I’m way too much of a wimp for them and when I play single player I always go on peaceful in caves so I can enjoy my time and not be terrified (and also with keepinventory on because I play this game to have fun, not lose my hard earned stuff and be sad lmao), but I’ve been playing on a realm soooo I can’t do that😂 Thank you for this!!!!

I've been watching and loving your content for about a month now, starting with the fishing episode. You always seem to pop up when I'm having trouble with that specific thing. I looked and realized I wasn't subscribed...anyways, now I am! Thank you for the clear, no fru fru guides.
On strip mining...many ytbers indicate there are no set 'lava lakes' now...and while I have seen lava lakes (obsidian type) higher, i consistently find them at y-55, similar to pre 1.18 y10 lakes. They are smaller, and edges taper off into deep slate...but I have found triple veins of diamonds frequently just mining out the obsidian.

Thank you so much, i just got back into Minecraft after not playing for 3 yrs, and i was so confused about the giant caves.

Hi, a really good way to increase your diamond count is that after you finish a strip mine, go back in it and aim at the ceiling while moving and mining. This will make you expose a ton of extra blocks per strip mine really easily. I remember there was one YouTuber who did this in their survival world…I don’t actually remember who it was though.
