Always offer to ‘look after’ all the dogs as my duty for the day, you’d be amazed how often THEY need a walk and a break from the chaos. It’s a public service to my family really. On SO many levels. 😂
Breathe everyone xd

Here are some tips I’ve picked up about surviving the holidays:
1. DON’T answer any of your mother-in-laws questions completely honestly, always sugar coat them
2. DON’T eat any homemade desserts w/ the word “rum” in the title
3. Always have an escape plan if things get testy w/ your in laws
4. You know what, maybe just avoid your in laws all together
5. TREAT YO’ SELF!!!!

Kati, no mention of introverts, for people like them (or us) this season really can hard. I found finishing the day, or night with self care like a nice bath, or relaxing yoga... a real help, some lone time after party time is important!

Kati, do you ever accidentally morph into "therapist mode" with family and friends?

Best Tip I've Ever Gotten: If your relatives are racist/homophobic/ableist, volunteer for little chores or jobs that require you to spend the least amount of time around them.
Volunteer to cook or help with cooking food
Volunteer to mind babies or pets or young children
If you're old enough to drive, volunteer to park or move cars if necessary(especially if you live in a downtown area and can only park in one spot for a set period of time!)
Or run out for snacks
Keep busy so that
a) Your mind is off the things your relatives may say to or about you
b) They can't say you're being lazy or not getting into the holiday spirit

Oh KATI this is ON POINT!! 💕I've been traveling for 3 weeks back and ooo forth across the country to see family. I'm way over my limit, my boundaries, my chronic illnesses are mega super exasperated...to the point of I need a wheelchair to attempt to fly home today. #prayformefam🙏

I don't have a family to go to this year, and am spending Christmas alone. It's a part of cutting toxic people from my life so I can be healthier, but it still feels bad to be alone for the first time. Add in the SAD and December has been a struggle to survive.
