Americans can be very different depending on what state they are from.

8:51 And this is why I always tell people that when you visit another country you're an ambassador for your own. This guy had a good impression of 330 million people because of one good interaction he had.

As an American, I love Japan and the Japanese people! Both of our countries have done awful, terrible things to each other, but I’m so happy that we have reconciled and are closer than ever. We have so much to share and value from our relationship with each other. It makes me sad that we can’t be that way with every country.

4:39 she might love to hear about the second most common high school dance - the Sadie Hawkins dance. Prom, traditionally the men ask the women to be their partner, where for the Sadie Hawkins dance, the girls get to choose their partner. Most large HS will have both.

Always great to see people saying nice things about the USA compared to the people actually living in the US. The one thing about politics in the US even though a lot of people talk about it in the US most people do not actually understand about the laws and how it actually works it lot more like two competing baseball teams. Great interview

It is very nice to hear good impressions about the U.S. and those of us who live here. Interestingly, many Japanese seem to think they are reticent or shy about expressing their opinions, but these individuals were very forthcoming and articulate. In general, I think they are correct that most Americans are friendly, open and helpful. And yes, the country is huge and very diverse -- both in terms of landscape/nature and people. My own sense is that the U.S. is struggling with some difficult political and economic problems. The past few years have not been a golden age for us. We are not the same country of positive good will that we were 25 years ago, or maybe even 10 years ago. But when Americans have nothing else, we have hope and each other. We will rediscover both and move forward. Meanwhile, it is good to have friends and allies overseas that are patient and supportive.

Japan is great and the Japanese have so much talent it is great to see. I want all Japanese to have a good time in America and if any country tries to threaten Japan they need to be dealt with NO HESITATION. Protect at all cost. Sorry that is my American big mouth. Serious, though.

Great interview. I'm a bit taken at how positive the view is regarding America, but even more taken that it seems to be completely the opposite of my view... and yes, I am American. I'm not too sure that Americans having interest in talking about politics, but rather have interest in making all things political... whether they really are or not. America is indeed big, but the cities are more or less the same as compared with Japanese cities in terms of population. What is big in America is the rural areas that seem to go on forever without anyone living there. There's a lot of big empty space. The other thing that is big in America are the waistlines and the general health is poor when compared with Japan. Also regarding freedom, well... in terms of Covid, sure the Americans removed the masks and were more free about the situation, but they also have more than 7 times the deaths than Japan. Remember Japan has far more population density and less chances of social distancing due to this density, but still America has more than 7 times the deaths. Freedom is a wish, but be careful what you wish for I suppose. Also in many place in America you have the freedom to do and say as you wish as long as it is more or less in line with the neighbors. Like many places in the world you have the freedom to be like everyone else. Sure the appearances in America might look more free, but at the core there is a lot of social pressure to conform... especially to religious and patriotic pressures. One does not do well in terms of being accepted as a 'freethinker' when in a more rural setting in America. Then again... real rural America (which is the majority of America) isn't something seen on TikTok.
