you’re using the WRONG coconut milk…🥥😳

Canned coconut milk is a lot higher in fat, so you don’t have as much control over the fat you’re adding into your smoothie. You also won’t be able to get the *variety* of different fats when you just use canned coconut milk as your fat source. Canned coconut milk is great to use for cooking - such as in coconut curry recipes - rather than in smoothies.

Coconut “mylk” (or milk) is made by blending and straining out coconut flakes. It allows you to have more control over the amount and type of fats you choose to add into your smoothie.

Just make sure you choose unsweetened! Or homemade, of course 😉

You do realize the box of coconut milk is basically just the canned stuff with more water and bullshit added to it?

Why are you limiting fats? Coconut milk is a good source of MCT

Sorry! Have to disagree. I used canned coconut milk all the time because it has 1 ingredient whereas the other one has lots of crap added. I’m also very okay with healthy coconut fat.

Just btw, if it’s cheaper to buy quality canned coconut milk I’d just do that. The fat content is lower in the other simply because theres more water. Just add a tablespoon for the 5g of fat (so the exact same as the non-canned coconut milk) and the rest filtered water. It’s literally the same. Also, milk with a y? What does that even mean?

High quality fat is a vital and important part of a good meal plan. I would say the more fat in getting from the coconut milk the better 😊

I always buy the one in the can and water down as needed because it's just coconut. The thinner coconut milk has tons of preservatives in it.

Nah... you totally want the unpasteurized organic sugarless coconut milk with all that good fat and medium chain triglycerides and all that beneficial gut bacteria.

can is better. less insulin spike in smoothies

This is nonsense, because it is just a question of accurate measurement. Smoothies are normally well mixed and made from consistent coconut ingredients, thus they should have a uniform composition.

So I buy coconut cream and add 2-3 cups of water to it and have milk for most of the week and it’s only 1 ingredient and no junk. This video is silly.

Honestly, feeling excessively full is exactly why I like canned coconut milk, except now I use coconut cream because most of the brands of coconut milk I have tried, including the preservative free, seem to have some type of adulturant like corn starch or something. Last year (when you made this video) the coconut milk cans were fine. Feeling excessively full though definitely helps me to consume less and be more mindful of what else I consume.

I don’t get why you say “this is coconut milk, which a Y.” What do you mean by that?

Dilute canned. 1 can coconut milk to 2 cans water.

I use the can. I just dump it out a whisk it all up and measure on a scale. Besides being keto / carnivore I prefer a more fatty smoothie. I usually use the smoothie as my last meal before I start my fast during my night shifts.

I feel like this is weirdly phrased and the message is a bit unclear because of that. The milk type doesn’t give you more or less control over how much fats you add, it’s about measuring it correctly

You'll have the exact same control either way. Will just have to measure things properly

All the coconut milk, even the organic ones with no preservatives, taste weird these days, have a weird color and texture. I tried many brands, double checked the best by date (it would be two years out), and nothing wrong with the can. I think they're adulturating the coconut milk. I haven't tried this brand yet. The only coconut milk I will buy now is 100% coconut cream. They still add 30% water, so it comes as the consisency of coconut milk, but its better than the alternatives where I'm at. Tastes amazing too. When I try to get a new coconut milk can to try, I now have organic coconut flakes on hand in case the coconut milk turns out wrong. It used to look perfect and taste purfect, now it looks like corn starch or something has been added. I bought another bad can a week or two ago so I made my own with the coconut flakes and water and blended and strained it. I'm going to have to start keeping a bag of coconut flakes on hand from now on. Yesterday, I made some coconut milk from the flakes, mixed with my fave sweetener alternative and some cinnamon and vanilla for a sugar-free and low carb version of horchata and it turned out pretty nice.

It was perfect for me🙃, I was underweight and it helped me put in some fat quick! I used the entire can which is like 650 calories. With spinach, a whole avocado, banana chia seeds and mango it ended up being over 1000 calories in one shake.
