How do SUBARU BOXER engines work? SUBARU BOXER engine explained.

If you’ve ever wondered why Subaru vehicles last so long, consider this: At the heart of every Subaru vehicle, you’ll find the SUBARU BOXER engine. Unlike most engine designs, such as inline and V-type, the BOXER engine features pistons that move in opposition to each other due to its unique horizontal layout, resulting in balanced, smoother operation.

What are the advantages of the SUBARU BOXER engine?

1. Low profile, providing lower center of gravity for predictable handling.
2. Produces less vibration than other engine designs.
3. SUBARU BOXER engines help enhance overall vehicle safety and longevity.

I've been driving Subarus for 13 years. They're all wheel drive system is incredible. After driving a Subaru in the winter time, you'll never want to drive anything else.

My first WRX and sooo far its been pretty fun. Not great for long drives unless you get a lumbar support pillow but the thrill of driving the car outweighs the feel of lower back pain 💞😁👍

Make more ads like this instead of the childish ones that don't say anything about the brand.

I own a 2003 Subaru Forester. It has never left me stranded or needing a tow. The headgaskets began to fail at 110k. I had two options: fix the problem or sell the car. I chose to tackle the process of replacing the head gasket with the new Multi-layered steal gasket used in the turbo engines. The ones I pulled out of the car were single layered and sprayed with some bullshit “heat resistant” coating from the factory. If they manufactured the cars with MLS gaskets in the first place, Subaru wouldn’t have had reputation of failing head gaskets. Otherwise, after my dad and I repaired the car, the Subie has been super reliable. If you treat a car well, it will take care of you. Sadly, most people don’t take care for their car and they become the most vocal about how their car gives them problems.

So what percentage of blocks have been replaced due to oil consumption or ring land failure? Just curious because longevity is one of the first things we see on this video

I can’t believe more companies aren’t at least partially adopting this engine design aside from Porsche. It’s practical and sells like crazy. It’s not an experimental fail with too many drawbacks like the rotary from Mazda.

How many comments for the STI and yet none appear on the video even though that engine's 𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 made car enthusiasts fall in love with their vehicles. I kept the engine stock and love it.

The subaru is front heavy. And now they added addition lenght to the exhaust so the turbo ones get better performance. So no more subaru rumble.... But there is always aftermarket parts! Loved my legacy 2.2l 94 mod. Swore never to go back into 2 wheel drive again. But I have learned how to use the weight and momentum to get my Peugeot 405 around in the high snow.

Put the FA 20 in the USDM STI already it's already been proven to be superior than the 2.5 stock for stock can hold more power reliably and has more tuneability

Even though a Subaru would be my dream car (especially for my 1st car). I've been looking one for over a year and all 2nd hand Subarus have had their clutch replaced sometime between 80k kms to 150k kms. Has this issue been solved? Or are impreza/legacy drivers bad?
