How do SUBARU BOXER engines work?

If you’ve ever wondered why Subaru vehicles last so long, consider this: At the heart of every Subaru vehicle, you’ll find the SUBARU BOXER engine. Unlike most engine designs, such as inline and V-type, the BOXER engine features pistons that move in opposition to each other due to its unique horizontal layout, resulting in balanced, smoother operation.

My 2008 Subaru Legacy GT is still on the road. It's been my daily driver for the past 11 years. Sti mikey tuned since 19k and now have 140k with an upgraded turbo, injectors and other supporting mods. Im super happy with my subie and haven't had any problems. If and when the motor goes a built shortblock is next and will tune it to 400whp. It's currently 380whp on e85 and 330whp on pump gas.

my wife's forester SJ XT has transmission leak and timing chain cover leak. its only 103k km. compared to our 2012 toyota altis at its 109k km without any leaks and it works without any issues.

0:40 "Resulting in quieter operation" The extremely loud warp-up sequence after starting the car says otherwise

My subaru boxer engine definitely feels like it has more vibration that most other engine types.

Obviously a very good engine but that’s because it’s well designed and has nothing with being a boxer engine. I’m not sure but believe designer used to work on aeroplanes and this is where the boxer engine came from. May be he converted it over from being air cooled to water cooled as water cooling is best for cars. It’s more expensive to make a boxer that a normal in-line four cylinder.

Will there be a Subaru motorcycle with that engine?

So good that mine has a super rough idle and has stalled on me several times, this should not be happening in a 2017, many trips to the dealer and they say it's normal . My first and last Subaru
