One of The Best Platformers On Steam

Fallen Leaf is one of the most underrated games I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It's pretty similar to megaman x and Megaman zero, but it introduces these cool new ideas that I've never seen before, at least not to this degree. I think it's great and you should play it if it looks interesting to you.

Disclaimer so I don't get sued: Thanks to the developers of Fallen leaf for the free copy of the game. They did NOT pay me, nor was I asked to me to make this video. I made it because I wanted to, no other reason. :^)

Song list (in order):
Somewhere in the woods (Short Hike)
Water Land (World 3 Map) Kirby's Epic Yarn
Above the Clouds Fallen Leaf
Crystalline Unsighted
Tools of War Specter of Torment
Theme of Cable (Gravity Circuit)
Fallen Leaf City Theme
Fallen Leaf Beach Theme

Hey, thanks a ton for giving our game a chance, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much! We put a lot of work into it over the course of nearly 5 years, so it's rewarding to see when people pick up on so many of the details like this. We're very flattered!

This game looks perfect for the switch. Hope it gets released on that platform as well

This looks like a cross between Megaman, Shovel Knight Treasure Trove, and Gal Guardians Demon Purge, but amping up a pot of the things I like about them.

If this game had come out in the Super Nintendo era we would still be talking about it to this day like a legend. It’s got some real shovel knight vibes too.

I just reviewed it myself, and I'm glad that I see some else seeing it with the same quality that I am. I did stream some of it day one, and immediately was like "hey, this is something good", and man I'm glad I completed it. I do think that it doesn't have that attraction that's going to get mega eyes on it (it's not flashy in the way to get major players/streams/youtubers to see it), but I'm hoping it gets enough attention in the long run. Well done video, and straight to the point with some good choices on the sequences/choices that you made (my favorite detail moment is the Clay Man who literally indicates the time you visited him when counting aloud, and him definitely keep an eye on the last time you talked to him. Well done.

The character switching mechanic sounds so smart, it's taking Z/ZX/ZXA's amazing ability to switch your form, but with a slight twist!
Neat game, for sure wishlisting it!

1:34 A reference to Ayumi-chan Monogatari, a really old Alicesoft game.

Just got it, looks awesome. These are the indie games that need to be elevated. The ones that take classic formulas and turn them to 11 and pack them the experience and knowledge only decades of retro gaming can provide.
My recommendation for a game like this will always be "The End of Dyeus" which feels like elder scrolls mixed with an early 2d zelda. Only game I've played that made an Iron Shield feel like a massive upgrade.

I've been playing and loving this game since release day. But seeing this pop up in my feed made me want to watch it anyways because I wanted to hear someone else gush about it.

It's definitely one of my favorite games of the year thus far.

the game is like those old games that feels like it has soul, its fun, theres no community that makes you quit, its just a game, a good entertainment like how video game should be, theres so much for a game that didnt look theres much in at glance

I've been looking for something to play and you had me at MEGAMAN! Thanks for the review. We need more channels like this that give exposure to hidden gems so that we can continue to support these amazing game developers. Like and subbed.

Another platformer that does a good job with world building and sidequest is Curse Crackers. It even goes so far as to have NPCs move around the world and interact with eachother. And its should be no surprise because that devs OTHER game is Prodigal, a top down adventure which ask the questions "what if Zelda sidequest WAS the core gameplay loop".
To a much lesser extent... um, Flipwitch... its a metroidvania with an adult artstyle and that's centered around... lets call it very intimate npc interactions... I'll stop beating around the bush, its basically what would happen if the Momodara devs turned off their horny inhibitors.

The phrase "Megaman-like" would've shaved a good 5 minutes off this video. Puzzle platformer, Jump 'n shoot (or Jump 'n Slash when playing as Zero), enemies and stage features are presented safely first before mixing and matching them, failing restarting at the start of the room with no pause in between (running out of lives was the only way you restarted at the start of the stage, no lives means no stage restart), these are all mechanics and design philosophies that've been around since the first Megaman on the NES.

>writing usually doesn't matter
It does. Writing ALWAYS matters. Which is why despite a bunch of questionable game design, Megaman Zero is LEGENDARY
