I was a police officer for over 30 years and retired ill health with PTSD. For many years I would have an active fight / flight response for the entire shift while at work. And hypervigilance. Unfortunately it takes very little to set off my fight / flight response now and along with that, rumination and anxiety. I am finding some help and relief in your videos.

Thank you for explaining this in plain english. I have a really strange and specific question for you if you don't mind. I lose my mind when it rains. This is the result of two traumas, both occurred outdoors during rain. I was trapped under a wooden roof after it was blown over and fell on me in 2003, and I was a pedestrian hit by a car in 2014 (so I deal with chronic pain too). It's definitely fight flight freeze, more flight and freeze and panic. Here's the tricky part. I'm usually indoors, and I hear myself telling my brain that I'm safe. Nothing slows down. I do everything that I know to do, and nothing turns that response off until it's over. It's completely automatic. I have no control over it, and I know that because I've been trying to control it for 20 years now. It only affects me when it rains or I get a weather alert of incoming rain. I don't like the fact that my brain is always looking for trouble. Trying to flip that is proving very difficult.
