Objective performance: FXAIX is the winner 🏆 by a slight margin of 3 basis points per year (5 year basis). FXAIX also has the expense ratio advantage with 0.015% vs 0.03%. That is 50% lower.

The only advantage VOO has is tax efficiency in a regular brokerage account. VOO in a regular brokerage account, and FXAIX in a 401k and IRAs.

One nice thing about the Fidelity account is you can buy both.

Is there any disadvantage to buying VOO on Fidelity as opposed to Vanguard?

I have VOO in my portfolio through Etrade and I can (if I wanted to) buy fractional shares of this particular etf.

Fidelity found out that their own mutual fund is better, what a surprise

Fractional investing with VOO is possible -- not sure why you say that we need to buy at least 1 share in a transaction..

These two are both excellent funds. Vanguard was the first at index funds. Now Fidelity is as good. I own Vanguard funds but am thinking of moving some money over too fidelity.

Im a little torn. I've been watching videos on VOO a lot and have heard about its strong buy rating. Today in 2024 (Jan. 23rd) VOO sits at 445.62$ per share. It has a return of about $1.59 quarterly. But FXAIX is 168.42$ which is about 30% the cost at .56c return quarterly. I have about 10.54K sitting in retirement just in cash and cant decide whether 23 shares of VOO is justifiable over 62 shares of Fidelity, with that much to invest. I guess the difference is negligible because based on my calculations VOO will return about 10$ more per year ($150 and change) yearly at 23.65 shares than FXAIX at $140+ (62.6 shares). To me the difference means that I can buy almost a whole extra share of Fidelity at 140 than about ⅓ share of VOO on returns, yearly

The fee is not much a difference between these two. The main difference is with the tax. You don't pay tax with etf until you pull your money out where as fxiax, u pay tax each yr regardless taking money out or not. I have fxiax, waiting for stock market to get better so I can switch to etf. Voo is a winner for me.

The YouTube channel is named UseFidelity. Kind of obvious which one is going to be recommended.
