Very informative video Mike. At almost 54 I think it’s time I start incorporating lighter weights with higher reps into my training routine to save what’s left of my joints. 👍

Hi Mike, I only recently came across your channel here. You're easy to listen to. I'm a 50 year old man, paraplegic (paralyzed waist down), but you're truly an inspiration to me. Thank you, and God bless you.

I'm finding old but new for me videos...great! This is good as always! Wanted to add: for strength rule of 10...3x3, 2x5, 5x2 for hypertrophy 20-30 reps the classics 8x3, 10x3...even 5x5 could get the job done if you don't rest for long. Mike, any thoughts? P.s if you have time/energy to write. Russian ladders great for strength 1.2.3 1.2.3 etc. Now I'm talking for young people...good recycling... strength then hypertrophy. Wow...I'm a long winded guy. Thanks!

It's best to go with what you can do consistently.
For most, in particular if you don't get upper boat work at work, that's going to be light to moderate weight, generally on a 3-4 set 8-12 rep every second or third day.
Stimulus is stimulus, and not actually destroying yourself means recovery comes easier. Granted speed of gains will still be frontloaded in particular early on in dudes that let themselves go in the first place. At that it's still important to not over work yourself.

Very good video Mike.
And I wholeheartedly agree.
Ronnie Coleman agrees with you as well.
Hence he always shouted 'light weight baby'.
Only if he listened to what he preached.
He would have still been a healthy mobile man.

Great vid Mike. I’m 62, i love everything you state in this vid. Been doing most of it and have had great results. Also, a high fat low carb diet helps with many health issues and has helped me a lot with muscle mass. Thanks for taking the time to make this vid. The fitness gurus on YouTube tend to neglect “old farts” like me.
