The scene where she is explaining to Melanie about how Rhett & Scarlett are reacting to the death of their child was so moving. Tge first time I saw it I sobbed.

Im just fixing to start reading the book, I watched the movie about a week ago. Hattie blew me away in this movie, she was absolutely fabulous, the stair scene with Melanie in the movie where she explains what happened after Bonnie died superb acting. She deserved the oscar im so glad she won it.

She was a gorgeous woman inside and out! That movie wouldn’t be as good as it was without this lovely woman❣️

Clark Gable was a Republican, which is why he stood up for black actors. On set, there were segregated bathrooms, and Hattie asked Clark if he could do something about it, so he went to the producers and/or executives (a bunch of Democrats of course) and told them "if those bathrooms aren't gone by tomorrow, I will be." The most important thing to note here is that the South was Democrat, and it's no wonder that she was unable to attend in Atlanta. Also, this film isn't racist, it's historical fiction. People need to understand that if you forget history, you're doomed to repeat it.

This film doesn’t address slavery at all!! It’s a romance set in the Antebellum era of the South. And it’s completely glazed over by the author bc of her upbringing. However, it’s a wonderful well written book. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️♥️

😂the fact that she played a maid was a perfect recreation of what was like in the period of slavery. To cast a role in the history doesn't means to justify the wrongdoings in the past.😂

I remember her and Clark Gable. And the quote that pops into my mind sometimes “frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn” which always makes me feel better 🙂‍↔️

I do like Tcm said about things like this. Where it definitely is a grey area because the film largely does kinda put a “remember the good old days” on parts of it but not all of it and there is always behind the scenes stuff like this
