Largest U.S Atom Bomb Explosion, Castle Bravo

Показать описание
Castle Bravo was a series of high-yield thermonuclear weapon design tests conducted by the United States at Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands. The device was the most powerful nuclear device detonated by the United States and the first lithium deuteride-fueled thermonuclear weapon ever tested. Castle Bravo's yield was 15 megatonnes of TNT, 2.5 larger than predicted due to unforeseen additional reactions involving lithium-7. This led to radioactive contamination in the surrounding area

Technically, its not an atom bomb. Atomic bombs use fission only. Castle Bravo was a hydrogen bomb and used both fission and fusion.

It's honestly so mind boggling they can produce this much power from something the size of an suv

Nobody’s talking about the fact that the cloud coming toward the camera looked like absolute *death*

Castle bravo a fusion bomb an atom bomb is fission aka atom energy particles hitting other particles causing the explosion. But it smaller then a fusion bomb aka hydrogen bomb. Fission bomb however has nuclear radiation fallout though.

Sonic boom reached them suspiciously fast for amount of distance they must've been 🤔

This is scary. I remembered when Taal Volcano erupted on January 2020 and thankfully we live in an area far enough that ashfall did not reach us but from where we were the plume of smoke and ash looked like it was really close. That was my first time seeing something so high and wide it gave me a feeling that I was VERY small it was frightening. I'm aware that wasn't the biggest eruption there is and comparing the scale in which these bomb tests are at, I wouldn't want to see one going off.

It would have taken around three minutes for the sound to travel to the nearest ship some 30 mile away...

If they didn’t expect the explosion to be this big imagine how big it would be if they wanted to create the biggest nuclear bomb
