Dune is literally a warning against believing in a messiah (aka savior). It shows what happens when you blindly follow someone who isn’t the right person to lead you. It’s not because he’s white. It’s a warning for people who join cults blindly.

Frank Herbert, the actual author, said his goal of writing the book was "beware of superheroes". And in the book, Paul wrestles with his 'destiny' and his fears of not being able to control the cult/religion that is slowly forming around him. That's what the story is about: facing your destiny and the things you cannot control.
