The SNES Classic Edition arrived at my house today, so I thought it would be fun to check out! Let's take a look at some of the games on the SNES Mini and get my initial thoughts on the system!

I'm completely happy with the line-up. Sure, there's games I'd rather have (no Pilotwings? Really?) but can't top Castlevania, F-Zero, Zelda, Super Metroid and the rest. Every single game is worth playing.

The question is unnecessary. It's like asking "Is having sex with two beautiful girls worth it?" lol

Why don't you like Earthbound? It's one of my favorite games! It is super. I played it 3 times because getting better each time. I don't get why some one would not like it.

Coming back in 2024 to say how much I've loved owning all the mini consoles I bought. NES, SNES, SEGA Model II. having the original controllers in my hands to play these games on hardware made by the original companies has made these so worth while. I got rid of my original consoles years ago, not knowing at the time how much I'd miss them. These mini consoles, emulation though they may be, have that authenticity that makes me feel satisfied with owning them instead of the real consoles and all those cartridges. I don't have the money or space to collect everything I'd want, but this feels authentic enough that I never feel I have to now. And once hacked, I was able to do so much to broaden the use of the NES and SNES classics that these are the consoles I will keep for the rest of my life and cherish as the representations of my childhood gaming experiences. For al lthe great new stuff that's come out, these are the consoles that bring me the most happiness.

As someome who already owns most of these games on cartridge this is still worth it for me. Its fantastic for speedruns even the slowdown on starfox is on point. Nintendo really made an effort with this console

Pre-ordered the first moment when it was announced in Australia and plopped down $20 for it.

Definitely excited to get it as the SNES was one of the first systems I played, although I missed out some gems and some of them (like a good majority of RPGs, except Secret of Mana) never came out in Australia, so this is a must!

Finally got the Super NES Classic Edition last month (Jan. 17, 2018) at a Walmart in my city here in Canada, after nearly 4 months since its release. This console is still just so hard to find at stores. Why Nintendo still makes this item rare to get is beyond me. At least they kept their word this system would still be available into the new year, but I sure hope they make it more available. They said they would do a better job compared to how they did with the NES Classic Edition, which they were criticized for the lack of availability which I never got.

Does anyone else like that "new" smell when you open up the box?

Thanks for the cool look at the system!  Let's hope Nintendo doesn't screw us over by super limiting the quantities available at launch.

Like the NES Classic, I love the menus. Looks nice and crisp. The frames are great too.

In Europe retailers sell SNES classic for 150-170 dollars, so the 80 bucks it costs in the US is extremely cheap. The retailers are scalpers themselves here.

It's worth noting that the rom of Star Fox 2 you can emulate is an unfinished copy. The SNES Classic has the completed version of Star Fox 2 that was never leaked or released.

My cousins had SNES with Super Mario World, I loved it, and we had Sega. Beat all levels and secrets when my little brother acquired a GBA with it. My favorite side scrolling Mario game. Still need to beat the second Super Mario World, and I plan on doing it on the SNES Classic.

Misses Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country 2 + 3, Lufia II, Turtles in Time, Top Gear, Sunset Riders and some Mortal Kombat games tho.

you can see RGT didnt grow up with the snes - you could say the entire system is outdated by his logic - pure nostalgic fun for everyone that did.
