They tend not to live very long as they can no longer eat so it might be on its last bit of life

He was probably near the end of his life cycle! Luna moths are only adults for a week or so after the transition since they've no mouth. Glad you were gentle with the soft lil guy!

Sadly, adult Luna Moths have no mouth and can't eat. They only live for about a week before dying. ☹

I love luna moths. <3 They're my favorites and I wish I could see a live one for myself one day. They're such a beautiful green color.

Another thing to tell from the antennae is that it is a male, the female moths have less furry antennae. Moths also do not fold their wings like butterflies (with a few exceptions), they keep them spread when standing just like that guy you found. I am glad you made this video, it helped me not to fear moths. I like Luna moths but I do not like hawk moths (moths that look like "arrows" or "jets" lol)
