Athropods are basically hydraulic machines. The most mesmerizing motion I've seen with it are actually spider's moving.
TheSpiralAim
It literally looks like an artist painted her wings to look like budding branches.... freaking amazing

This is beautiful, and thank you for sharing! For future reference that's a male moth. You can tell from the antennae which are fluffier in male moths so that they can pick up the female pheromones more easily.

My god.. Heimlich wasn't flightless, he just wasn't finished yet.

There was one summer where I collected caterpillars and put them in a container and fed them with their prefered leaves. Then they became chrysalis, then they became butterflies! It was a wonderful feeling to see little babies grow into pretty butterflies!
mayalonde
That's a beautiful moth, Buffalo Bill

If bugs are water balloons and that Luna moth did that……that means
to defeat mothra all you need is to mess up her wing inflating thingy
The_Drknss-gpdg
Moths are so pretty and kinda adorable. It’s mostly just the larvae phase that kinda freaks people out
TheSassyPotato
I am scared of bugs, but this one is mesmerizing and SO FLUFFY!
thedeadguy
Beautiful moth! Found one at my job a few months ago, was definitely at the end of its life. I kinda wish I’d kept it instead of letting it go to get ravaged by ants
kerrybarneyiii
Though as they do have open circulatory sustems and some arthropods like spiders have hydraulic-based movement, I still wloudn't say that waterbaloon is the best way to describe it as insects for example still have a ton of muscles in their body such as the flight muscles of pterygote insects stored in the thorax wich take up a lot of space in many cases
Also that liquid is called hemolymph and is basically the arthropods' blood and a hemoglobin analog
theprehistorichubert
Wow, I found a dead moth with little wings like that the other day, now I know what was up with that.
danielkidder
That was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen ❤😮❤😮❤😮❤
samanvayasrivastava
I've rescued a few from pools before in Florida. Beautiful things
AtkinTheory
Transitions into a moth with no mouth and dies within days after she transitions. Pretty amazing and sad at the same time
Missopinionated
We're all just salty water balloons tho 😂
Overly concerned with the oh of our internals.
ThunderStruck
I’ve kept a fair few moths whose wings were deformed for one reason or another. I just don’t feel right leaving them to die if I don’t have to.
HamaScarlocke
I wonder if she remembers being an earth bound caterpillar or if that passes😂😂❤
ramcharger
Had damn near the same model on the ice machine at the best western in Hope AR last week. The last little tail on the wing was still a bit foldy.

Extravagant feature? Stat redistribution? Dangerous? Yup that worm just mega evolved.
