How To Share The Gospel With An Atheist - Paul Washer

Question: So I was saved about two years ago from, well, atheism, and I have a pretty atheistic family. And so I've been trying to share the gospel with them. Ever since I was saved. And just finally, recently, I'm engaged in a conversation with my sister, and she's wanting to get into a discussion about evidence and I'm just curious if you guys can touch on should I engage in that or not?

[Note: The following is Paul Washer answering a question during the 2021 Fellowship Conference. It got buried in our ready for uploads folder and so is just now getting posted.]

I Just Love Paul Washer. I'll Never forget His sermon on Genuine repentance that literarily shook my entire faith and changed my walk with God for the better.

A very sensitive subject, a very clever answer. Once I applied completely the opposite strategy with my wife and went so wrong, I pushed her on the wrong direction. i stopped and left everything on God's hands. I use to listen on my smartphone christian stuffs when suddenly after months she told me she wants to hear what I hear. After some time I asked her why did she ever want to listen such things. She answered that whatever I was listening was making me a better person, a lovely husband, I was loving her more, and since that time, after years, she is more hungry than ever after God. Only God has the wisdom yo know how to get in someone's 💖, And he wants to use us, so is very important to be responsible in every word, action and in everything we do has to be LoVe for our creator but also for those next to us. Without genuine Love we are nothing

The more that Paul Washer clips show up in my feed, the more I love this man.

His wisdom, love for people, love for the gospel, and his humble strength are eye opening and inspiring.

Thank you so much for this! Out of fear of family not being saved I believe I've been badgering them, thank you for this advise 🙏

Speaking as a former atheist who was converted, I can put it like this: Imagine if an atheist tried to make you pray your way out of faith. You're doing the pretty much equivalent of that when you try to explain or argue an atheist into faith.

Paul is exactly right, it's seeing how faith affects the lives of the faithful that drew me in. Talking about ideas abstractly will never send a message the way living a faithful life does.

It's so true!
I have spent the last 6 years simply loving, serving, and praying for my family and answering questions when (or if) they come up.
One by one my family are being given the gift of salvation.
It's better this way as I can't boast that I did it! 😆

amen. i have learned this.i used to be atheist! i as well, used to get rage filled when someone brought up God to me. and i used to be so intense after the holy spirit first filled me. now i've come to understand to show peace, love, PATIENCE, and acceptance. because i try to show and embody that same peace, love, patience and acceptance that the Lord gave to me when i was still sinning against him. i know the only way to shine a light is through that exact same lens. he loves us all so much, and that's how you reach people. he accepts and loves us all as we are when we come Him. bringing that same extreme love he has had for me, i try to give to others when talking about God. now, i still need to get out there and share my testimony, but for now i've been planting seeds.

I love the caged lion analogy. Will definitely be using that in the future.

So thankful for God's forgiveness when I mess up trying to witness to my atheist family. I will keep trying to love and serve them more, and hopefully they will be open to hearing the gospel 🙏✝️ What a great answer and motivation from Paul Washer.

Fantastic advice, how to not just TALK like a Christian with unbelievers, but how to LIVE the Gospel before them

The Lord just used this to settle something in me that I've been struggling with for quite some time. Praise God for His work through Paul Washer, and all the other faithful men He has raised up in His power, to preach and teach, that the body would be fed and edified.

This man always makes me cry. He always makes me realize how much of a failure I am. I failed to love like Christ all the time. Oh, how I pray that I’ll love like Him even if it’s just a little. Just to demonstrate His love for my family, my friends and coworkers.

I remember 2 Timothy 2:25-26 gives me God's blueprint on how to share the Gospel with my unsaved family. "Opponents (my unsaved family) must be gently instructed in the hope that God would grant them repentance and a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil who has taken them captive to do his will."

Perfect answer, Paul . Allow Holy Spirit to speak through you to the individual that is ready to receive God, as He is convicting that person to respond .
