Synthesis: SAFe is a great 'agile' approach to program and portfolio management, especially when 'scaling' agility across the organization involves several development teams. When delivery is asynchronous and additional integration efforts are required, value delivery to the customer could get delayed. With SAFe, the complexity of 'integrating' the delivery of various teams is managed by 'continuous integration' and 'continuous delivery' practices, originating at the planning stage. Once an organization matures in its program management, it can start capping the gaps between strategy and execution activities further, by unlocking the 'portfolio' level of the SAFe big picture. Critical initiatives can be prioritized and continuously validated for alignment with the organizational strategy.
