Costco Muffin vs Homemade

I stopped buying Costco muffins years ago because through doing my show, I learned how to make them much better. The recipe in my book "The Pantry Laid Bare" yields only 6 smaller muffins, but it still worked out a bit cheaper to make the dozen than to buy Costco's. That is...if you don't count the size. Costco's muffins have an after taste while the homemade ones do not.

Ingredients:
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/3 c. cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. + 2 T. granulated white sugar
2/3 c. applesauce
1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil
3 T. Greek yogurt
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg
2 T. milk
3/4 c. chocolate chips

Method
Put, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar in a bowl. Mix applesauce, olive oil, Greek yogurt, vanilla, egg and milk in a separate bowl, then mix. Fold in chocolate chips. Spray olive oil in a 6 cavity large muffin tin or use baking spray or muffin liners. Fill each cavity to 3/4 with batter.
Preheat oven to 400°F and bake for 5 minutes. Lower temperature to 375°F and bake for another 25 minutes. Cool on a wire rack/
