This is the intuitive geometrical logic that the ancient civilizations employed to arrive at the formula for the area of a triangle. The modern proof would involve Calculus and the properties of derivatives and integrals of functions (e.g. lim etc.). You could also arrive at the result using trigonometric reasoning, which would essentially be a fancier way of expressing the same intuitive geometrical logic. There are other more advanced mathematical methodologies available as well; none of which requires memorization. In mathematics there are often many ways of skinning the same poor cat.

actually there is a theorem which states that if a triangle and a parallelogram lie on the same base and between the same parallels, then the area of the triangle is half of the area of the parallelogram.

this is a formal way to reach the formula 1/2 (b × h).

Both the triangles formed a parallelogram too because the diagonal AC of the quadrilateral divides the quad. into two congruent triangles. So the area of both the triangles will be half of the area of parallelogram i.e. 1/2(b×h), isn't it?

I don't have to memorize this formula because it's intuitive for me. Think of cutting a parallelogram in half diagonally. the bottom is b and the height is h, therefore if you halve it along the diagonal, the formula is 1/2 b h

But if we see triangle as a seperate figure why do we still consider it has half of rectangle. For example in am in triangular room and i have to find it's area, then i would just multiply base and height, why will I also multiply half with it
