Ford v Ferrari is based on the true story of Ford’s attempts to win the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race with car designers Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles, portrayed by Matt Damon and Christian Bale in the film. But of course, this is just based on the real events, so we’re here to tell you exactly how historically accurate Jame’s Mangold’s new film really is.

After seeing the film, the movie was "essentially" accurate, although things were changed for sake of pacing and drama, as tends to be the case with movies based on historic events. But it's an excellent movie regardless, and I'd definitely recommend it to anybody, especially those with interest in history or car racing.

Miles apparently slowed down at the finish line because he knew about the technicality that would mean McLaren would win, it was a protest to the photo finish.  The film acts like he and Shelby didn't know, but they did in real life.

Those changes aren't that bad.... It's still very close to the original unlike La Bamba story

So Miles didn’t win that race in that year in real life
