I do mindfulness when exercising, essentially exercising without music and trying to focus entirely on the movement and breath. Helps a ton. I'll even bring a book to read between rest periods if doing intense stuff, the book 30 Days to Reduce Stress by Harper Daniels is a good one I think.

I used to be sceptical and not really serious about it until i started to go on brisk morning walks in the sun for even just 10-15 mins every day after waking up. it SIGNIFICANTLY reduced my very serious intrusive thoughts and negative thought loops for the rest of the day, and was way more effective than cycling during the afternoon (which didn't really help).

So true that exercise works wonders. After a decent exercise session, I feel about 200% percent more in control and less likely to give into compulsions

How did you know I was JUST looking into exercise? Of course my brain needs to start out with a research spiral about which exercises are best and how to tell whose fitness advice is trustworthy before I begin any routines. 😅

Ok well I had an extremely bad and debilitating stretching and exsersizing addiction. They WERE the compulsions. 17 hours a day of agony. I’m traumatized. I hate that nobody else has ever had ocd like mine.

I exercise twice everyday & it doesn't help my OCD at all, only helps lessen the anxiety from it, temporarily, because it doesn't get rid of the thoughts, urges & compulsions so all the anxiety quickly comes rushing back.

why do my obsessive thought loops get worse at the gym. i’ve been weightlifting 3-4 days a week for 8 years and over the last year, my OCD has gotten really bad, even at the gym. i don’t know why. i just want to to go away. i’ve tried every trick in the book. everything you’ve posted. it just keeps crawling back.
