so basically if it’s a two way mirror, your fingernail will touch its reflection perfectly. if it is a normal mirror there will be a gap between the fingernail and reflection of the fingernail. this isn’t always perfect though as sometimes it can still appear to be a normal mirror.

edit, sept 2023:
thanks to the replies to this comment, if the reflective film is behind a pane of glass, it will give that "gap" effect (usually on high quality/expensive mirrors). many safe and normal mirrors don't have that "gap", but are still not spying on you. they are simply just cheaper to mass produce.
you should never have to feel unsafe in your home or hotel, but there's many better ways to find cameras. this way will most likely make you feel unsafe when it's fine, or vice verca. i'm going to bed now

The reason why your finger and the reflection touches is because there's a space in the other side which means its a two way mirror or it could be a normal mirror and that normal mirror has space on the other side too.
