The book is an excellent starting point. That will eliminate bad decisions at the start that might frustrate you and make you quit. The feel of the metal is an organic experience and seeing it response to your working it is a learning process you'll remember on each project..

Thanks for the advice and some tool recommendations! Hearing you talk about a chop being so chill about it makes it feel very very possible haha. I actually found a 50 shoebox that someone cut the roof off of and gave up, so im going to try and put it back together. My other shoe is still all original. That’ll be a project after this one haha.

Ian, if and when your body just no longer holds up to the physical strain of doing this kind of work anymore, I think that you would make an excellent teacher to continue the tradition on to others.

You have a great way of explaining things clearly so that people understand it as well as making things very approachable so that someone who maybe thinking of starting out has great knowledge and can feel a sense of being able to tackle this.

Kudos to you and continued kudos to Jamie for doing such a great job on these videos. Your being able to teach and share would not be nearly as successful as it is without her assistance and great work.
