Voted “Most Painful” Bone Fracture #shorts

preview_player
Показать описание
Calcaneus is the most common #tarsalbone fracture and ~75% are intra-articular1. Complicated anatomy and hindfoot kinematics make management of #calcanealfractures challenging. The #calcaneus has minimal soft tissue cover + limited amount of dense cortical bone, making fracture patterns impressively varied. In general, open reduction + internal fixation of intra-articular calcaneal fractures can only be expected to benefit patients when nearly-anatomical reconstruction is obtained. Comminuted #displacedfractures, male gender, and heavy manual labor are associated with poorer outcome. Although modern operative techniques continue to improve patient outcomes, "there still is no real consensus on, treatment, operative technique or postoperative management."

If you break your heel bone, also known as the calcaneus, it can significantly affect your ability to walk. The heel bone plays a crucial role in supporting the weight of your body and facilitating movement. When it breaks, it can disrupt the normal functioning of the foot and make walking difficult or impossible.

Why

1. Pain and swelling: A broken heel is usually accompanied by severe pain and swelling. The discomfort can make it difficult to put weight on the affected foot and bear the necessary pressure for walking.

2. Instability and loss of support: The calcaneus helps maintain stability and provides support to the foot. When it fractures, the structural integrity of the foot is compromised. This instability can make it challenging to maintain balance and walk without assistance.

3. Limited range of motion: A broken heel often restricts the range of motion of the foot. Movements like flexing, extending, and rotating the foot may be limited or extremely painful. These limitations can impede the natural gait pattern required for walking.

4. Disruption of the arch structure: The calcaneus plays a crucial role in supporting the arch of the foot. When it breaks, the arch can collapse or lose its normal shape, resulting in an abnormal distribution of weight and pressure. This can lead to pain and difficulty walking.

5. Healing process and immobilization: The treatment for a broken heel typically involves immobilization, either through casting or surgery, to allow the bone to heal properly. During the healing process, you may need to avoid putting weight on the injured foot, further limiting your ability to walk.

“Break your heel, won’t be able to walk” is like saying “if you rip out your eyes, you won’t be able to see”

In my opinion the thigh bone is the most painful bone to be broken considering its also the toughest bone in the body, if it breaks it will definitely hurt a lot.

Tests in school used to be like

1. Will you be able to walk?
2. Does it take a lot force?
3. What is it called?
4. Do many of these need surgery?

My grandpa fell off a roof that he was fixing, and Brook both his heels. He actually figure it out how to drive himself home. It was crazy.

I got a calcaneal fracture, crushed my foot with a forklift, my foot tripled in size, couldn't walk for 3 to 4 months, I didn't need surgery, and fully recovered, I can still walk 🙏

I think the worse bone break is the thigh fracture, it is extremely rare and usually only happens during extremely high drops like 6-12 stories or even higher.
it’s usually with other fatal injuries, and is the hardest bone in your body
so when it (not cracks) but breaks your nervous system goes hay wire

the thing about your legs is that they are so valuable in survival that when your run the impact from both of your legs bounces the blood flow of your body to maintain stamina so when any part of your leg breaks it’s basically like losing a heart.

speaking of hearts… in my study the worse muscle to break is obviously gonna be an vital organ and the worse to break is the heart

the pain has been measure to feel like being crushed to death that’s how many signals your body send to your mind

and these signals aren’t to warn you

these signals are your body trying to kill itself

and the even worse part is that if you somehow are along for too long which is even a minute the stimulation starts to over take the adrenaline and it starts to feel like you’re on fire while also being crushed to death

so if you don’t like burning to death or being crushed to death

stay away from heart breaks kids 👍🏽
