Sometimes social media could be entertaining, but it also manipulates your mind through its algorithm and you’ll ended up scrolling for hours, slaughtering your mental health.

Me personally I don’t hate social media, I think it has been handy for a lot of things that we should give credit for. But when people go down the rabbit hole of all the negativity really does in fact make people feel out of touch. You can say that it’s like a double edged sword.

Hiding Instagram Addiction under calculator is wild. It clearly shows how destructive those addictions might be.

Im gen alpha, and this is exactly why my parents only allow me on YouTube.

But they also taught me to stay away from bad influences.

People think it’s stupid to be addicted to social media, but an addiction is definined by something that becomes a dependency that interrupts daily life. You are not ridiculous for having any kind of addiction, and there is someone who can help out there ❤

I'm a Gen Z and of social media I only use Youtube and whatsapp, no facebook, no Instagram, 2 or 3 friends IRL and I'm living a happy life knowing that 3 real friends are worth than thousands of fake ones online.

I was born in 82 and growing up with no internet or mobile phones was so much better I can’t imagine the pressure kids live with these days with how social media is.

i was extremely lucky to be in a non-social media era generation. use social media objectively to lookup my hobbies, academics, pop culture, game and streaming services' updates, and provider services' and living utilities' updates.

As a Gen Z, I grew up without social media and instead grew up with the outside world and video games. I didn't get social media until I was an adult really, but I only use it to look at things Im interested in, not doomscroll for hours on end.

i am Boomer x GenX (born January 1965) but i know of many folk aged 60 & above whom haven’t spent a single evening without being in front of their own, a friends’ or hotels’ TV for over 4hrs - since them being kids & getting sent to a bedroom without a telly.
I’ve met many old people whom couldn’t or can’t go a day without their daily doses of mainstream world bad news & favourite soap operas & have existed in this bubble since the late 1970s . In my humble opinion It’s as removed from ‘real life’ as these youngsters because of the longevity of the condition or habit.
Long lives with 10 or 20% of that waking time being passive observers of constructed content.
I wonder if studies of the amount of tv viewing of the generation of folk dying out now - given the average age you can expect to live, aged 75 to 83 has been done in any detail.
i really appreciate your intelligent take on stuff fella . From SW England
😁👍🐢❤️

I’m 26, my hubby is 28 and we both have issues with social media. We just had our first daughter and we are trying so hard to remember the damage it did to us and to save her from it. Bring back living REAL LIFE!

I don’t mind social media, but the fact that people do something over extraordinarily to get attention really makes me mad.

I am Gen Z, and its been about a year since I left social media, because it almost killed me. Living in my happiest state, now. My friends are trying this out too, and now we are more together, more connected.

This is coming from a fifteen year old, delete your insta or TikTok they’re ruining your life, be okay with boredom and get out of your house. Do something youre proud of every day and it can be small, remember that youre the youngest you’ll ever be right now and you’re wasting it scrolling

Hey i want to bring up another point, social media is cultivating polarised opinions in people due to the algorithm unintentionally or intentionally exposing the user to content reinforcing their existing opinions, leading to stronger and more polarised views, detrimental to one's critical thinking.

As a Gen Z who's teen years were stripped from me due to COVID (I was 13 when COVID was first documented, turned 14 in early 2020, and was 17 when the WHO declared COVID to be no longer a pandemic, the feelings of isolation and loneliness were 1000% massive contributors to the social media crisis that I'm unfortunately a part of.
Even 4 years post-2020 I still deal with PTSD, Anxiety and MDD relating to the pandemic and my social skills were completely messed up from being isolated for a year. I'm also autistic so my social skills aren't very good to begin with, but COVID absolutely exasterbated that. I use social media more than regularly because I feel like I can't connect with people in real life without it-I don't have to worry about saying the wrong thing, or accidentally upsetting someone, etc, but I also know I'm missing out on one of the best parts of life, which is having such connections.

I genuinely want to have meaningful connections with people, but between COVID and being bullied in High School, I hate that I feel like Social Media is basically my only hope at human interaction. Sorry for the long comment but great video as always!

gen z for the most part actually had a normal childhood, they made it through very well despite the rise of social media, although tiktok has done a lot of damage and it is a horrible app. Meanwhile, gen alpha has it the worst, a literal crisis with an awful cesspool of content on a whole new level never seen before to where it has become widespread.
