It's a very good topic. Although the speech was quite short, I was very impressed with the message conveyed. I think that what is said is true. People become unfriendly because they spend most of their valuable time using social media and rarely interact directly with other people. The implication of excessive use of social platforms is that they move away from friendships and relationships that actually occur in real life. It not only prevents them from being gregarious but also turns humans into addicted creatures devoid of emotion and compassion for others. Someone becomes more interested in social media to do various things or activities. I totally agree with his statement that technology is not a wrong invention. The ones to blame are themselves because they don't know how to use social media properly. In addition to being socially isolated, a person may also become an individual who lacks empathy and is self-centered. thank you for this excellent talking video.

Just deleted my Facebook after more than 10 years. Feels a bit weird, but I'm glad I finally did it. I think the only social media that still bring some actual value is YT, and even that depends on how you use and how much.

Excellent talk — hits the nail on the head. These social media platforms are after market share and mind control. Poor investment of time on our side of the equation. Watch “The Social Dilemma“ - it’ll put the scare in you. Great job, Kristin!

This is very important topic, now a days we've already addicted with social media, and we don't realize how much time we are losing in our lives. We have to change our living style .

Watching this in 2022.. Noticed how people dont communication even digitally anymore? New updates just let us "react" to messages friends send us. We no longer even text properly.
For social apps, these updates sure are making us unsocial.
People go on dates, meet friends, and are on their phones.

The irony is, most of us probably got this video link through social media

One silver lining I give to the lockdowns is I can see people are trying to connect more in real life because of realizing how lonely they were to begin with

To disconnect to connect today is relatively difficult today. But there are definitely other ways we can connect other than deleting our social media because deleting social media is also a big disconnection now a day.

I agreed with everything Kristin Gallucci says. I work on computers, and I teach online continuing education courses part-time, but I would never want to live in the cyber world as opposed to the real world. I find that if you really want to win someone over, get that person in your camp, and ensure that person truly has your back (and vice versa), you have to develop a relationship with that person that is interpersonal based on real world chatting, interaction, and working together to get the job done. Social media, email, and texting... all of them fall flat as compared with real world interaction when it comes to developing relationships of all sorts.

This was a great talk and a reminder of being more aware of how we are changing as social media changes and grows.

It's such an astonishing speech. I'm really impressed with the message that she conveys. It's beautiful and true. People have been becoming unsociable because they spend most of their valuable time using social media. The implication of overusing social platforms is that they are staying away from real friendship and relationship as well. It not only prevents them to be gregarious but it also turns humans into addicted creatures without emotions and compassion for others. I totally agree with her statement that technology is not a wrong invention. The one people should blame is themselves because they have no idea on how to use social media properly.

nice, finally a serious approach towards the topic, last of them I saw were more about being perceived as a nice person so they get more requests on social media, this woman really cares about people not just her presentation, good job, respect!

3:12 - It basically appears as though social media is too tempting, too addicting for people to resist. It is able to deliver an artificial social response cycle that is manic at best, and psychopathic at its most profitable.

The irony tho, we wouldn’t be here watching her talk w/o social media.

My sentiments exactly. Let's get on board people and go back to we connected face to face. Sit down to a real conversation, not missing out on those precious moments of your toddlers, grandparents, family overall.
Kristin is so right, it's killing marriages/relationships on so many levels and even friendships. I can vouch for friendships, as I've turned away from many due to their needing to connect only online. They have time for online but not a phone call, meeting out n about. Life is too short. YES you too can live without.

This is exactly why I made a song about this… its a bigger problem but its a bigger problem. Unfortunately we are in the era that it’s required for most businesses

Several of my high school friends either don’t have Facebook or they have it and never use it. I admire that as it shows that one can do without it and have great in person friends.
