EPRS roundtable: 45 years of EU ASEAN dialogue: Which way forward for the strategic partners?

In 2022, the European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will celebrate 45 years of dialogue partnership. A series of commemorative events will culminate in the EU-ASEAN Summit on 14 December. This roundtable, organised jointly with the European Parliament in ASEAN (EPinASEAN), will take stock of recent developments and focus on the future agenda: what can the two regions - which share a strong interest in a global rules-based order and in regional cooperation, and concluded a strategic partnership in 2020 - do to foster stability, build prosperity and address global challenges? This is of particular interest in the context of challenges to multilateralism emanating from current global geopolitical instability.
