Important -- use medium grain rice so the rice sticks together. Long grain rice won't stay together. Also, you can buy sushi molds to shape the onigiri. Plain salted rice balls are also a favorite children's snack in Hawaii.

It’s almost exactly like Musubi. Which is based off of onigiri and is a staple food in Hawaii.
