Cubed and fried Spam with pineapple and teriyaki sauce over steamed rice makes a great camping/backpacking meal.

I'm live in Hawaii and my mom makes the best! Instead of frying your spam, try cooking the spam in a little bit of water some shoyu (soy sauce. Yamasa shoyu is the best) with a little bit of minced garlic sugar and sesame oil. Fill a pot with you spam and then add in your shoyu until it completely covers all the slices. Then add in a little bit of minced garlic. Bring to a boil until your spam is cooked.
Using the same method as you did, pack the rice tightly as so. Then, before adding the layer of spam, put furikake on top of the rice. Then later the spam. Wrap in nori sheet and use water to seal the end of the sheet to prevent it from falling apart.
Let me know if you give it a try :) sorry I don't have exact measurements... my mom just eyeballs everything

I made these once and had some people at work try them. I just left them wrapped in plastic wrap to transport to work, and carried the seaweed separately so it didn't get too soggy. The work people loved them.

I live in Hawaii, and my kids and I literally have spam musubi once every 1-2 weeks because we always end up craving it.

The best ones (which I also make at home) have the teri sauce, furikake, and egg. So good!

This reminds me of something I would have at a friend's house growing up, which they happily called "Spammish Rice" - think it involved rice, chopped Spam, onion and garlic, soy sauce, and egg. It was honestly quite good 😊

Mmm..not ashamed to admit that I LOVE Spam! Spam musubi is one of my guilty pleasures! Spam is great for breakfast too. Slice it very thinly and fry. Eat with fried egg and rice! That's what I call a breakfast of champions! Mmm..yum! Luv ur vids Emmy!

I used to work with a woman from Hawaii. She brought some of these in, and they were amazing! I was thinking about them this afternoon, and now this is in my recommended. I think it’s a sign to make some lol.

Was in the process of making this from another recipe but found your video to see if there were some shortcuts that others had not mentioned. The plastic wrap in the can is a great tip. Another recipe recommended slicing the Spam into thinner pieces if you are using the regular Spam (rather than the low-sodium kind). From my experience the low-sodium Spam is the way to go. But my kids love this and they are having it tonight along with some homemade baked salmon & avocado roles. Thanks E.
