It’s taken over a hundred years of military research to actually train modern soldiers to kill so effectively. The vast majority of people put into combat situations will instinctively try not to kill. The military looked at specific cases of individuals who went above and beyond to kill the enemy and tried to model their reasoning and morality. That plus technology and here we are.
