SEAL Team 6 Operator Remembers His First Kill

Eddie said he cannot remember every kill, but he remembers his first. In his book Unafraid, in a chapter titled "Kill Addict", he said that later the killing became so routine that they progressed towards increasingly difficult means to keep it interesting. When shooting bad guys with a rifle got old, he relished the opportunity to justifiably use a pistol or even a knife when the situation permitted.

I love that Shawn actually says “do you wanna talk about your first kill” instead of saying and jumping right into “let’s talk about your first kill” he gives him the option which I think vets in his position appreciate

I’m glad he’s on our side. I don’t think we realize how tough these guys are both physically and mentally

An honest man. Some men regret, while others reload.

I’m from the Philippines and this is the first time I’ve heard the about the atrocities committed against Filipino drivers who risked their lives to support their families back home due to poverty. Glad that you eliminated these terrorists and saved the lives of many more. You are our hero. Thank you.

It was refreshing to hear a Man like this tell his story with no regret.
A lot of vets Ive known are angry at having to be there doing what they had to do for the Military Industrial Complex... and honestly, I agree with them a lot. But on the flip side, it's also true that these fanatical groups out there are doing horrific things to women, children, and civilians who just want to live their lives. The fewer their numbers, the better. This guy has my respect.

Former Sgt Major here, I can definitely relate and understand what he says. The first time somebody opened fire upon me, the first emotion in me was panic, but then in just a matter of seconds that panic turns into anger and you start becoming colder and colder, and you just want more. It would sometimes come back me when we were back in base and starting "decompressing", but in that moment you just want to get one more and then one more and so on.

My first time hearing or seeing an interview on this guy. I truly hope he finds a job he likes, meaningful and that will support him and his family for life. Because, this man right here, you don’t want him turning into a criminal. Scary guy. Thank God he’s on our side.

If the mainstream press did interviews like Shawn, it might be half watchable. Outstanding interviews Shawn. Absolutely riveting window into SOF world that we wouldn't have without you.

Even Shawn seemed to pause when Eddie talked about how he was addicted to killing the enemy.

Wow!
Any debate about good versus evil is pretty well settled in that fellow.
An old saying,
"You can't kill an idea, but you can put a bullet through the head of the guy who is thinking that idea."

I love that he doesn’t try to act like he was forced to kill, but he didn’t want to. He’s a warrior and it’s a good thing he loved his job. We can’t let evil prevail. God bless these warriors who defend the weak and helpless.
