I recommend The Count of Monte Cristo to literally everyone especially people who say ‘I dont like classics’ because its so well plotted and its hard not to be swept up in the adventure. I hope you enjoy it!

The Count of Monte Cristo will always have a special place in my heart. When I was in college I was struggling to get into reading anything for fun, and would pick up books, start them and never finish them. I went into my favourite book store and asked an employee for a recommendation to get me back into reading, and was suggested this classic. I was hesitant, but I picked it up. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! It reignited my love of reading, and am so thankful for that. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it when you check it out! Also, cute lipstick! :)

A great list. Just finished Ethan Frome - a great novella. So much content in 144
pages. Edith Wharton is an exceptional writer.

The count of Monte Cristo is on my Classics list for 2021 too. I'm actually so excited to get it started that I might even pick it up during my Christmas holiday 😊❤️

I say! This is a tip top set of books. The Count of MC is the bees knees. Adam Bede, if one takes the time to pause a tad an look, has the devil of a depth to it. Cold Comfort Farm is one of the most charming tonics for the heart one is likely to find.

I look forward to your reaction to all of these goodies. Happy reading.😃❤🎩

I'd recommend that you read Ethan Frome in the winter, as the cold and snow are a big part of the story

I just finished The Count of Monte Cristo and I'm in love. I'm already wanting a reread. I can't get over how much I loved it.

Great list. I liked Ethan Fromme. I know many don’t and it is different in that Edith Wharton is not writing about upper society as in her other novels. But I found the writing to be fantastic, which led me to her other novels. Age of Innocence is my favorite. Also, Cold Comfort Farm is hysterical.

Ethan Frome!! I had to read it in the 8th grade and was never so impacted by required reading before. I think this book along with the ancient greek classics I had to read around that age made me love classics :)

Ethan Frome and In Cold Blood are both chilling and so so good. Enjoy!

Great list! I haven't read any Gaskell other than The Life of Charlotte Bronte, so I just bought an old Penguin copy of Cranford to read in the new year. I'm also planning to move forwards with my Trollope reads and hopefully get back to Dickens.

Ethan Frome is lesser Wharton for me. The Age of Innocence remains one of my favourite reading experiences ever.

In Cold Blood is something different all together. It's one of those books that changed the whole way I read.

I love the ambition here. I can barely plan what I'm going to read next week, let alone next October. I look forward to hearing your reactions when you reach each of these marvelous books.

I just recently read Edith Wharton's autobiography A Backward Glance and really enjoyed it. No huge revelations but really nice to just be in her head. Middlemarch and The Count of Monte Cristo are on my classics list for 2021.

I would also like to read The Count of Monte Cristo... I hadn’t read The Three Musketeers until this year and I loved it! I was completely surprised at just how much humor this tale held. I’m anxious to hear your thoughts on The Count! Happy New Year, Olive! 🥂
