Book shopping with my teen

Apparently my teen is just going for what looks familiar instead of reading reviews and descriptions.

this is me and my dad every time i step in indigo. it goes like this:
"one book, okay? no more."
"yeah, dad. deal."
"ok, find me when you're done."
*10 minutes later*
"oh there you are, what's taking so long? i told you to pick one book."
"um, actually can we take this one too? it's the limited edition cover!"
"ok fine, whatever, let's go."
omgggg. dad, this book is nowhere to be found! and it's right here! we have to take it!"
"for fucks sake, maria. you know what? just take my card. consider this part of your christmas gifts. i'm gonna go to starbucks and get myself 5 espressos, otherwise i don't think i'd be able to survive the rest of the day."

This reminds me of how my dad promised younger me (who hated reading books) that he would buy me any book I wanted. He didn't expect that I would become such an avid reader when I got older 😅

The one addiction my mom supported at no limit. I placed the limit because I knew she was cash strapped so I shopped for discounts. Love books!

Book stores are very relaxing. The other day i went to the mall with my mum and sister, they were shopping and i was bored so I went to check out the bookstore and it was amazing, the music was calm and beautiful along with the books.

It’s nice seeing this honestly, it’s great you can get your kids books. I’m 15 and my parents don’t have a lot of money, but I know if we did my mum would buy the books I want (she always says it’s better than being on the internet lol, which is true)

You gotta start taking her to used book stores lol! That’s what my mom did when I got really into books. When I was younger there were used bookstores that had books for less than $1, now the average around me is $2-4. Used book stores are so much more fun too! Regular bookstores have regular employees but every single used bookstore I’ve ever walked into has the most friendly people who are also book obsessed and they’ll give you so many recommendations that you’d like and you can chat with them forever about books. It’s a whole experience! Also good will is great! Facebook marketplace! And there’s used book websites too in case you want a certain book!

my dad had a barnes & noble gift-card and he reads all his books online. so, he just gave me the gift-card and told me to roam around and get whatever i wanted!!
