When we convert a fraction, like 2/4 to a percent, we’re asking “What percentage is 2 of 4 ?” To figure this take the Part (2) divided by the Whole (4) x 100.

Part/Whole x 100 = ___ %

So we divide 2 by 4 and multiply by 100 to convert 2/4 to a percent. When we do that, we find that 2/4 is 50%. That means if you take 2/4 of something you are taking 50%.

Note that the fraction 2/4 is less than one so we should have a percentage less than 100%. This is a helpful way to check your work.

--- Steps to Change 2/4 to a Percentage—

1. Divide the numerator and denominator to get a decimal.
2. Multiply the fraction to get the percent value.

Currently in my 3rd Semester at University for a Math degree and this popped up in my recommendations.

Even if you know what the answer is immediately, it is always worth to solve a problem a simple problem cleanly like this. That way, when you are in fact trying to solve a more difficult or more general problem, you can start from there.

I thought there would be some curveball thrown in there but no it's just as expected. I am pleasantly surprised to not be surprised.
