How Install VirtualBox Guest Additions on Ubuntu 22.04 Guest / virtual machine

The new Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Focal Fossa is out now. But VirtualBox Guest Additions software is not working properly after installation. So this post shows the step by step procedure on how to install it properly.

Step 1. Install required packages.
Before installing VirtualBox Guest Additions on Ubuntu 22.04 we need to install some required packages. So open the terminal and run the following command.

sudo apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential dkms

Step 2. Install Guest Additions using virtual box.
In order To install VirtualBox Guest Additions on Ubuntu virtual machine, Got to VirtualBox - select the Devices from VirtualBox host application menu - click Insert Guest Additions CD image.

Step 3. This will open a pop up window and it will ask you to run it. Press Run button (see the picture below)
After pressing Run button it will install VirtualBox Guest Additions on Ubuntu 22.04 . Press enter to close the window.
Step 4. Shut down your Ubuntu 22.04 Guest.
Step 5. Start Ubuntu 22.04 virtual machine and check if copy and paste works.

I almost couldn't believe it when it finally worked. Like every other tutorial i've tried before failed. And that pissed me off even more since i initially tried dual boot with ubuntu and it screwed me up good time.

Very clear instructions. I was stumped earlier before watching the video. My Guest Virtual CD install was not happening automatically. Right clicking on the mounted folder was a brilliant idea! It beats entering long path name manually! I saw other videos before & nobody cared to mention it.

Finally! Thank you for this tutorial. However, at 2:35, this newbie was a little lost. So I zoomed in and see that you typed "ls" as the command, then "./autorun.sh." Also, people should be warned not to use the MAXIMIZE button, you will get a black screen. I thought this didn't work. I realize you need to drag the windows slowly in the lower right. If you drag too fast, it will go black too. But if your screen goes black, just drag it back slowly to make the windows small again, the display will come back. To increase, drag slowly allowing the display time to catch up to the new size.
