An easier trick I found on digital is I draw the shape in regular 2D, draw guide lines like in this video and just use the free transform tool to fit it into the guide lines. I do recommend trying the method in the video first before doing I this way because the guide lines help a lot.

Another solution to fix it is to use a symmetrical ruler and make the other way of the shape smaller/narrower (for digital artists).

When doing drawing a common technique it to use graph paper and draw the boxes individually.

Though it seems unhelpful for the heart shape, you can keep dividing the box into halves or connect corners to corner division to better angle the symmetry.

It's more important the shape looks correct than symmetrical than perfectly designed. By correct, I mean further things are appropriately smaller.
