"The world was in a trade war since its inception".
Nobody gives anything for free and nobody wants to miss out trade.

video 8 mins and 54 secs long is not enough to fully explain and cover background information and causes of this issue at all.

My only problem with this video is that it was released on 13th of Nov and yet the content is outdated by roughly two months. CNBC, you will begin to lose credibility if you post outdated news packaging it as something new...

"Japan and South Korea are Asia's biggest economy after China and India". Last time I checked, Japan's GDP is still way ahead of India. Get your facts straight please.

Disputes are not necessarily a trade war.

Now I could see if South Korea where to be self reliant, then let’s look at electric shavers as Panasonic is from Japan then, I have also seen a bunch of products made by Philips that are made in Korea and if Philips Korea where to manufacture shavers for the South Korean market and for export then Philips will sell more shavers than Panasonic in South Korea; that way is a lost for Panasonic for electric shavers.

That means it’s a huge win for a Dutch company to sell more electric shavers being manufactured in South Korea in South Korea and a huge lost for Panasonic.

Korea has developed its own main materials prohibited by Japan and has already applied them to Samsung and Hynix. Japan's reckless attempts completely failed, and in the end, Korea succeed localize the advanced materials in a few months. Currently, Japan intends to export the materials back to Korea, but Korean electronics companies will not import Japanese products again because of the risk of Japan. Japan completely looked down on Korea that has high-technology.

According to a newspaper article, On 2 November(←sorry it’s October is correct), export of hydrogen fluoride to SK Hynix was already permitted.

According to the news reporting this export license, it seems that it is taking time because Korean importers struggle with submiting all the required documents that were not necessary when South Korea was on the white list.

Similar to this declaration, I think that export declaration of hydrogen fluoride to South Korea that can be confirmed as import for semiconductor manufacturing purposes etc. will be allowed.

Japan is not restricting on export hydrogen fluoride, but only strictly controls strategic materials under the international law.

I love Korea as a Korean.
I like neighboring Japan, too.
But I hate the Korean government, which has anti-Japanese sentiment for political reasons, and the Japanese government, which has anti-Korean sentiment.
Korea needs Japan, and Japan needs Korea.
Stay close. 🇰🇷❤🇯🇵

This is not a trade war. This is generation shift that Korean's new generation no longer inherits the economic and technological inferiority underlying Koreans through the Japanese colonial period and modernization. If the pro-Japanese conservative government had continued to take power in Korea, this kind of overcoming could've been difficult to take place. In this perspective, this is also huge political issue.

6:45 For anyone curious, one of the signs say, "Japan Yes. Abe Out" meaning the general public of Korea wants a good relationship with Japan or supports the Japanese people but not Abe and his politics. I just wanted to point this out as supporters of Abe often decry Korea as simply Japan bashing or hating when it's far more nuanced than that. Considering the terrible things Japan did to Korea, to show any signal that Korea still supports the Japanese people is a sign of humility in my opinion. In fact, far more Koreans visit Japan than Japanese visit Korea and this should be telling of the perceptions of the general public from both sides.
