A weak story and frustrating pacing combine into a disappointing entry in a venerated series.

This dude reviewed this like his ex made it.

The reviewer: they never question their fate.
5 hours into the game: Both main characters question everything.

Ngl invisible walls are annoying but in the gameplay you can tell by the map you can't go any further.

Everybody ask how vision of mana reviewed. No one asked how is the reviewer.

The mini-map literally shows a single path and yet he keeps trying to go off sideways....

He keeps saying he's a fan of Trials of Mana, but it doesn't come across that way to me nor did I hear any compare/contrasting elements of the two discussed. I played the fan-translated version back in 2000, grew up with snes era rpgs. I take this game as what it is, a children's action-rpg that does exactly what it needs to be. It's like the comfort food of rpgs with a low budget. He just doesn't sound like the target audience for the game. He's entitled to his opinion, but a 5 is quite harsh.

Square is testing the water with these smaller IP, as stated by them, and I hope they have success so I can see more of this. Maybe one day we'll get a more adult, high budget Mana mainline.

don't know about this review. Not trying to argue but I'm about 10 hrs deep and I'm loving it. The cast are interesting, some more than others. The combat is awesome and super fun. The spells and abilities are different but fun to mess with. I love the boss fights so far. The side quests are kinda generic, yes, but the combat makes up for it. Musics is also phenomenal . Honestly, I'd give the game at least a 6 or maybe a 7 out of 10. I'm hoping it only goes up from now. I'm not sure why the reviewer was so negative. He makes it sound like manas worse than alot of flops from this past year

Bro is playing the game as if he is bug-testing it.

Dude seriously dissed the battle system and that's definitely a high point in this game. Yeah, he just didn't like it.

This dude played a different game. 10 hours in and I’ve yet to even find an invisible wall. Not to say they aren’t there but rather…unnoticeable

Visions of Mana is all about simplicity. I like the extremely simple sidequests and exploration. Sure, I would love a Mana series take on Elden Ring or TotK, but this is the best game I’ve played all year!

This dude clearly was just going through this just to review it

This guy literally describes every Mana game and says it isn't living up to them, huh? Utterly clueless.

This guy didn’t understand the assignment lol. Mana series characters so the serious depth? A complex story and motivation? Yeah…they intentionally designed it not to be that and it is better for it. I do not want to invest in games that require I pay attention to every line to catch reference and clues woven together, or have some payoff because I really understood them earlier than some issue or conflict became obvious. This has never been the franchise to scratch that itch, nor should it be.

I started the game today and i'm eight hours in (didn't leave "the first port" yet). I think it's cute, refreshing and not too complicated (but there are 4 levels of difficulty). Many many side quests (that, for the most of them, you don't HAVE to do - but if you do, you'll get a lot of rewards) and a clear story with a few twists here and there. It's exactly what i expected : an RPG, with a lot of cute animals, and with the possibility to grind A LOT (hidden coins, coffers EVERYWHERE). Even from the beginning, you have access to regions that you know you will come back to (with specific places where the ennemies are level 51… and you are level 3, 4 or 5). There are a ton of things you know you will be coming back to (magical rocks, closed temples, etc. which you run in front of from the very start, and can't use yet)… All in all, i'm very satisfied because it's exactly what i thought it would be… ☺

I agree with a lot of the others in these comments, I've been playing my shaft off with this game and I find it to be one of the best action rpg's in a while. The story is pretty interesting, dialogues definitely cheesy at times, but the collectibles are fun, the combat is SICK, Movement is sick, fast run, mounts, visuals are beautiful, and the music is awesome as well. What more could you want?

He mad cause MANA characters and a story isn't deep and that the combat system isn't complex? Ummm... It's a mana game. Looks fine to me and the invisible walls are clearly seen on the mini map. I think you've blown this out of proportion.
