Visions of Mana[a] is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by Ouka Studios and published by Square Enix for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. It is the fifth main title in the Mana series and is scheduled for release worldwide on August 29, 2024.
First announced in 2021, it is the first mainline game in the series to be released since Dawn of Mana in 2006, and sees the return of series designer/director Koichi Ishii, producer Masaru Oyamada, and composers Hiroki Kikuta, Tsuyoshi Sekito, and Ryo Yamazaki. Visions of Mana is set in a fantasy world where players take control of Val, a young man from the Fire Village of Tianeea. When his childhood friend, Hinna, undergoes a pilgrimage to the sacred Mana Tree, which controls the flow of mana throughout the world, Val accompanies her as a protector or "Soul Guard". Other characters who join Val on his mission include Morley, a cat-man and speedy attacker who seeks to overcome a traumatic event from his past, and Careena, a half-human, half-dragon dubbed "The One-Winged Oracle" who is always accompanied by her young dragon companion Ramcoh, the child of a sacred beast.[4]

Like other games in the series, the title is an action role-playing game featuring real-time combat with enemies who inhabit the game's environments. The game features "semi-open world" areas made up of large maps the player may freely explore while advancing the story.[2] Players may assume control of any member of their three-person party, each with their own unique skills. Each character has various combat classes which may be unlocked by acquiring items called Spirit Vessels and may be switched freely, granting them access to new abilities and powerful attacks call Class Strikes.

Secret of Mana is one of the greatest games ever to me, it has a ton of nostalgia attached to it and made me a huge fan of Mana over the years. I missed a couple of games over time but have been playing what I missed and most of them have left a favorable impression on me. As soon as I saw this had a collectors edition i preordered it because the footage looked so fun. I'm very happy to see that this looks to be worth the purchase and the time. Now to decide if I want to try the demo or wait for the full meal! Thanks DG!

This has been one of my most anticipated games since they announced it. Can't wait to get home from work to play it.

I wanna compare it to GranBlue Relink. its still like Trials of Mana, i felt some scenes are laggy even on performance thats like a small issue. I wish there were a longer combos in attacks

Trials of Mana was my intro to the series on Switch back in 2020 and I really enjoyed that game. Visions looks like that x Tales of Arise which is great imo. I'll get it on Nintendo next console or PS5 Pro next year

I’m playing the PS4 demo. And Wow! It’s pretty good. But after the Boss Fight the Visuals start to Chug.

But I do think these issues are being ironed out in the Alpha Demo.

It reminds me of Eternal Sonata. It's not really my sort of thing but I do want to give games like this more of a chance.

I'm all here for a lighter toned game, but much like with Secret of Mana, I hope it gets heavier towards the end. It was all fun and games in Secret, until the sunken continent got risen, and then got even heavier when the Mana Fortress showed up. Just the music while flying Flammie during those parts alone, made it feel so much more dire towards the end :D

Nice video! If it is struggling to run on the PS5, I think we should stop thinking about seeing it on the Switch

Guys we gotta support this game. We have to let know clearly to Square Enix that we still want more Mana series ! LET'S GO!!!

The games are all colorful, but I think that the first two games (Final Fantasy Adventure and Secret of Mana) were the only ones entirely whimsical and lighthearted in tone. Seiken Densetsu 3 was fairly dark and serious by 1995 SNES standards, with all six of the prologues featuring depressing stuff. Legend of Mana was bright and colorful visually but somewhat melancholic in tone.

I love the scenery and landscape in this game. But the combat was a bit clunky I feel

Controls feel janky and combat sadly feels unoptimized. This is especially noticeable comparing to FF7R.
