Remarkable how everything in our bodies is so connected

This video doubles down on the fact about how freaking interconnected and dependent each body part/system is with each other. Really amazing honestly.

I've been fighting malocclusion for decades. I've spent over $150, 000 seeing countless forms of orthodontists, dentists, and even surgeons. (I had orthognathic surgery) None of this has worked to fix the malocclusion and my chronic pain and overall lower upper body strength. I'm trying one more orthotic ($8500) in a few weeks as one more last ditch effort. My posterior teeth don't touch, and this leads to a neverending struggle for my jaw to find its home. 20 years.... It's horrible having a malocclusion. The daily tension in my face destroys quality of life. I envy people who have no idea what I'm talking about.

High level pianists have been talking about how jaw tension hurts technique for a long time, but it was usually explained as tension in one part of the body creates tension elsewhere. Interesting that there might be more to it.

As a dental student, I found this video fascinating on how heavy contact on a specific side of the mouth can cause so many problems. Cheers!

You can simulate biting by pushing your tongue against your upper palate. Masseter activation isn't as forceful as with something to bite on, but you can do this throughout the day and shift the balance by pushing with the tongue to either side. I most often place my tongue just behind my front teeth, where the palate angles upward.

I'm pretty sure I picked this up from ashtanga yoga some 10 years ago.

Interesting how such a small difference in tooth height can have so many correlative/causal effects. Wisdom teeth could affect this height if they come up underneath the molar then.

Your channel is so uniquely valuable. In 10 minutes, you've explained something so outside of most people's consideration, and in a way that is concise and practical. Subscribing to you is the gift that keeps on giving!

Wow, I've had TMJ since i was a kid and finally getting it treated by a dentist. TMJ made working out a nightmare for me cause all my muscles of mastication are tense and overused and i had a terrible shoulder pain on my left side and headaches as a result. It took me so long to figure out these issues were coming from my TMJ. Once i figured it out, my dentist made an orthotic to stabilize my bite, all these symptoms went away and I am actually excited to get back into working out once i'm symptom free and the muscles have rehabilitated. So this is so legit, especially for those with TMJ issues.

Joseph/WIL, you constantly surprise me with the subjects of your videos, always so relevant to me, it’s like you know the videos I need to see and make them. Found your videos when I first used carnivore diet to heal my skin and gut. Then language (I moved country), hair, sleep, and now this. I sincerely thank you for getting the info on these subjects and presenting it in a clear and concise way. You, sir, are a hero 🫡

I have been obsessed with PRI technequies and I'm glad you covered it here!
make sure to check out other conditions that affect posture such as the Left AIC Right BC pattern taht Neal Hallinan talks about. your body is an entire system from the bottom of your foot to the top of your head and one misalighnment in one place will cause pain in another place of the body.

Hey this is exactly what I've been working on nonstop these past five years. I actually have a heavy distortion in my spine down up from my jaw all the way down to the hips. Because I have this since birth many bones in my body are distorted.
I've practiced an enormous amount of Qi Gong though and that is why I'm entirely pain free now.
It was a huge effort but I have voluntary control over the smallest muscles now and therefore can immediately adjust my posture any second as I'm completely in control of my tension. It feels amazing to be honest, insane effort but so worth it (in my case at least)

I want to share my experience ralated to this: My jaw and my teeth felt very aligned my whole life. After orthodontic treatment where doctor did not like my occlusion and decided to make the bite "better" and shaved of about 10 teeth "eyeballing" the resulting "better bite", the procedure is called occlusal equilibration, it destroyed my teeth, jaw and balance. I could not touch most of my teeth, my neck started to hurt, my posture changed, I started having scoliosis, one of my legs felt shorter, I dont want to go into detail about the teeth/jaw symptoms itself which were a lot. Everyone around me was telling me I was imagining things. I read a lot of papers finding these ones you mentioned, I was sure it was caused by teeth misalignment. I am very happy I came across this video you saying the same. I am not a doc myself and people don't give credit to what I say. I am very happy you made a video about this. This was a relieve. Thank you.

I saw your comment on that one guy's video about psoas release from the jaw. The comments were right about it being a matter of time before you made a video on it! Thanks for doing a great job at condensing the information into a palatable video ;)

Thank you for making this. I've been trying to explain how my dentist is fixing my posture through jaw alignment, but all the other videos are too complicated or not entertaining enough to share with my family. I like how this focuses on the benefits of strength gains and less muscle tension, rather than some kind of perfectionistic postural restoration for the sake of it (because most people just won't be into that).
