If you're looking for a new home in one of those states and you can't afford the insurance, unless you're very wealthy (think several millions in assets and money in the bank/self insured), you're gonna be rejected for getting a house.

This is a part of that you'll own nothing and will be happy motto.

Learn to live with some cold and snow. Learn to live in a "boring" state. The houses are less expensive and it's probably safer overall.

LOL and the media dubbed Florida the Sunshine state when in reality, Florida is known as the HURRICANE state.
