Ryan, i can not imagine a more important message for people to hear this day! "It takes work to be a good person, more work than it takes to be a great (that is successful or famous) person, but it's the most important work that you can do and the world depends on us doing it. Who we are going to be depends on it.” - I can't wait to to hear what you have to say in Sydney this July.

It is about being better today than yesterday and better tomorrow than today. That is the goal we have to make for ourselves

"stop trying to be better" doesn't mean giving up on personal growth or self-improvement. Instead, it emphasizes the idea of accepting and living in accordance with nature, focusing on what you can control, and finding contentment in the present moment

Aurelius was so stoic, he was literally made of stone! 😂

That is because the key of all improvement is discipline. Discipline is a muscle and it is all-encompassing. It's not only sleeping hours, showing up on time, going to the gym or practicing something. It is also in the choices you make. How you do anything is how you do everything. If you do not open the door for people, if you do not discipline your heart to kindness, there will be none shown to you by yourself or those you love. This does not mean you sway your opinions, can skip conflicts or other adversities. Do not expect the world to treat you fairly. You rise above, never below. If you disagree, you disagree. If there is a war to fight, you fight. But at the end of it, you rise above and sleep soundly because today you built CHARACTER.

To be more precise: building yourself internally is without a doubt the apex discipline. Building character (where kindness comes from) cannot come externally. It is a core discipline you need to teach yourself first. And that is much, much more difficult than the discipline of time, muscle or work (which is what we associate with success).

It's called compassion of life, which comes from understanding life, which develops love for all life.

The focus on moral improvement as outlined by Marcus Aurelius is timeless and more relevant today than ever. It reminds us that the pursuit of virtue not only enriches our own lives but also enhances the world around us. 💡

Ryan thank you. I'm 64 a retired veteran and single. Also in recovery. I love working out. Been going to the gym for decades. It's a great way to get rid of those emotional toxins . And getting in shape, dare I say buffed is, well, okay I'm gonna say it: Eye Candy for the lady's. However this video hit me hard. I just realized I'm putting more energy into the external while letting the internal, such as working on my thoughts, emotions, journaling, setting intentions for the day take second and third, maybe even fourth place on the priority list. Thanks for the reset and all the work you do on your fine channel of yours. Blessings.

I think there is a fine line between perfection and excellence. Every day that I practice the stoic principles, it challenges me to be a better person than I was yesterday. I strive for excellence not to be perfect. I put these principles into practice with my faith in God and practice of Buddhism. All three of these have enriched my life and enhanced my understanding of the world around me. It makes me feel good that I now put the emphasis on improving myself and standing up being a complete person. I feel like someone special and I’m gonna hold onto this feeling. Your video and so many other stoic videos have helped me learn so much. I’m glad you make these videos possible.

Great video. Kindness and the willingness to help each other. That what stops humanity from reaching the stars.
